PrinceLite Seminar Information
London - Kings College London, Strand, London WC2R
July 24th. 2008
2:00 - 4:15 pm.
Topics
This is a practical seminar designed to equip you with the knowledge you need to structure projects to better make sure they succeed. Here success is defined as 'on time, to budget, and that deliver the right result'.
Business Change
The political and engineering perspective
- Understanding the split personality of the enterprise
- The motivation of middle management
- Communicating the real rationale for change
Project Management vs. Project Delivery
A unified approach to project management and software delivery. How can they be considered separately and hope to succeed?
Essential vs. Nice to Have
- Which artifacts are non-negotiable?
- Why is the artifact plan important?
- Who cares about the communications plan?
- What exactly does a decent requirement look like?
Use Case Modelling for Project Management
Use case modelling is part of UML – an international standard in software engineering. Uses cases represent business requirements. When used properly they represent those requirements in an unambiguous way. At the beginning of any project it is possible to create use cases that are accurate, even though they are not yet precise. Early lifecycle use case modelling lets you:
- have a clear view of project scope
- understand complexity and effort estimation
- will inform planning
- allow the measurement and communication of progress
- allow the prioritisation of work to be set
- control 3rd party contracts
In the seminar we will explore the relationship between the project manager and the business analyst who will produce the use cases. We will seek to understand how an early lifecycle model can be produced from a simple single page description of the purpose of the project. There should also be a chance to get our hands dirty and try out some of the concepts for ourselves.
This is the underlying power of PrinceLite, which puts the business requirements front and centre at the heart of the method.
Seminars always round off with a question and answer session. This is the fourth seminar in the 2008 season. The next seminar is in September.
Cost: £125 ex. VAT
